Transition to Independence, Employment and Success (TIES) Program operates out of a little building on Sigsbee Base, NAS Key West, located on our small island.
Unique Learning System— We use the Transition Band in the TIES program, although this curriculum is designed for all ages. It is a fantastic systematic curriculum that provides assessment and follows a student through each grade level. It is a paid subscription and WELL WORTH IT on a district level.
Think College—Think College is an initiative of the Institute for Community Inclusion (ICI) at the University of Massachusetts Boston. ICI has been a leader in the area of postsecondary education for people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities for over fifteen years. As interest in postsecondary education for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities has expands, so has the need for research and training in this area. ICI currently has three federal grants designed to conduct research and provide training and technical assistance for professionals, families, and students related to postsecondary education for individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities.
Florida Keys Community College- Project ACCESS-Florida Keys Community College has developed a comprehensive transition and postsecondary program (CTP) for students with intellectual disabilities (ID), learning disabilities (LD) and autism entitled Project ACCESS (Accessing Community College Educational experiences, Social experiences and Skills for careers).
